VISA & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Until March 2020 most nationalities could get a visafree stamp for max 30 days at the airport.
However since the pandemic everything has changed. Today only nationalities from ASEAN* countries get this visafree stamp. All other nationalities need a
visa. Check the possibilities below.
Example of an eVOA
Update January 2024: the eVOA, the B213 is now called B1
Requirements for foreigners entering Indonesia
-Passport
Valid at least 6 months upon arrival
-Visa
Except for ASEAN nationals for max 30 days*
-Return- or onwardticket
-QR code for customs
Visa On Arrival (at the airport or eVOA)
VOA is available for nationalities below** at 16 airports***, 91 seaports and 6 landborders valid for 30 days and extendable for another 30 days. Rate is Rp 500.000 (US$ 35.00) to be paid in Rupiah but American and Australian dollars and euro's are also accepted. At some airports you also can pay with your creditcard Master of Visa. At the airport you need to queue up at the VOA desk.
Since November 2022 Indonesia has an online system to apply for a prepaid eVOA via the official website https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/ (the "molina" portal has been replaced by this one)
Be aware of unofficial providers which usually charge far much more. The government also warns for these shifty websites. The one above is the only correct one.
Costs are Rp 500.000. Payment is with credit card (VISA or MasterCard) , the fee for credit card is Rp 19.5000. So you will be charged Rp 519.500 in total.
Once the payment is made you will immediately receive your eVOA B213. Then you have 90 calenderdays to enter Indonesia; the date of purchase is the first day of those 90 days. Do not confuse this with the maximum amount of 30 days wich you can stay in Indonesia.
Example: if you purchase your VOA on June 10 then you have up and untill September 7 to enter the country. If you enter Indonesia with this VOA on August 14 the last date of your visa is on September 12 unless you have extended ofcourse.
At the airport you can go directly to the Immigration desk.
Tip: there is no need to apply for your visa a long time in advance; 1 to 2 weeks before your trip is time enough.
Visa On Arrival (e)VOA
extension
VOA purchased at the airport can be extended with another 30 days at one of the immigration offices. Check here for
all Immigration offices in Indonesia.
When extending your visa at an immigration office be aware there is a huge difference in processing time between the offices.
You need to show an onward or return ticket when extending the VOA. At the office you need to fill in a form, pay the extension at the postoffice or bank, then back to immigration for photo, fingerprints and digital signature and collect your passport with the extension. All is communicated by email.
However the proces can last a couple of hours up and until a couple of weeks.
Tip: pick an Immigration Office outside the touristplaces.
Immigration Maumere seems to be one of the quickest in Indonesia. On Bali it can last up to 14 days!). On June 6th 2022 it took me 1 hour and 45
minutes in Maumere to get my visa extended and on April 11th 2023 not even 1,5 hours.
If you have an eVOA you can extend online or manual at one of the immigration offices. This service is since 30 January 2023 and only available online if you already have an eVOA. You don't need to go to an immigration office anymore. Pricing is the same as VOA, so Rp 500.000 plus the credit card fee, so Rp 519.500 in total.

Immigration office in Maumere
a lot of paperwork for the extension of VOA
Visa C1 (was 211A) tourist
For all nationals who aren't on the visa exemption or VOA list.
requirements
-photo in colour 4x6 cm
-copy of passport (at least 6 months valid when entering Indonesia)
-proof of vaccination
-bank statement with at least US$
2000
-return- or onward ticket to another country
The 60 day visa can be applied online via the customersportal of Immigration Indonesia https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/
You need to create an account first, then upload your photograph and passport in jpg. or png (be aware of the maximum size of 200Kb). Payment can be made by creditcard only (MasterCard, Visa). Costs of this visa are Rp 1.500.000 plus creditcard costs. Since November 2023 this visa can also be extended!
However, for 60 days the VOA both online or manual at the airport plus extension online or at an immigration office is still the cheapest option for 60 days.
Visa B211A other than tourist and extendable
The extendable B211A needs to be arranged via an agent (usually Bali or Jakarta; there are also a few on
Lombok and in Makassar).
The B211A visa can be extended two times with 60 days but via the nearest immigration of your agent only.
To be honest, the difference between a B211A and a 211A tourist visa is not clear.
eCustoms QR code
For entries at the airports of Denpasar, Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan and Praya (Lombok) travelers are mandatory to fill in a customs form online. Once completed a QR-code will be generated which you need to show
at the airport.
https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/
The paper version can still be used at all others airports, seaports and landborders.
QR code for eCustoms
Insurance
Not mandatory but highly recommended also for health issues.
